YouTube announced a new feature that connects Android devices to Smart TVs and, in doing so, transforms mobile devices into YouTube remotes.

Similar to the Airplay feature of iOS devices, "send to TV" enables Android users to search for videos on their phone or tablet and view it on a larger screen, particularly Smart TVs.

Currently the "send to TV" feature is compatible with television and set-top boxes from LG, Bang & OlufsenPanasonic, and Sony. Later this year it is expected to support Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, Vizio, Western Digital and other devices.
